How to test laptop power consumption
Our laptops and desktop-based consumer testing of the computer system power operation in four modes(Off, Sleep, Idle, and Load). Therefore, the data acquisition we used a chroma meter No. 66201
During our test monitors with ENERGY STAR testing procedures, we added a load test more realistic experience.
In addition, parts of systems in two categories for the test. System has discrete graphics cards and use a game to load test while systems with integrated graphics, which we call power, use a general criterion multitasking.
The "system test" is off (off) for at least 1 minute, but due to an electrical outlet.
Boot the operating system.
Make sure the system has an active Internet connection.
Leave all startup programs active power.
Sleep test:
Put the system into sleep mode when Windows starts, stop buttons.
The system is idle for 5 minutes.
Reboot and make sure you are using, and began operating system of at least 5 minutes.
Applications, and so that the implementation should be the ones that start automatically after reboot.
Once in the operating system starts to confirm that the system has an active Internet connection.
Launch multimedia multitasking test.
Reboot and make sure you are using, and began operating system of at least 5 minutes.
Applications, and so that the implementation should be the ones that start automatically after reboot.
Once in the operating system starts to confirm that the system has an active Internet connection.
Start the Far Cry 2 benchmark.
Reporting results
The individual tests are weighted as follows, and multiplied by the national average cost of a kWh of electricity, currently $0.1135, to provide the average power consumption and estimates annual energy cost.

Sleep (30%)
Idle (15%)
Load (15%)
